Coast to Coast – A Michigan Triple Threat
On a sunny weekend in February I had the ambition to visit three amazing place s all locat ed in different parts of Michigan. From Detroit to Lansing to Whitehall, I visited destinations that give you a true Michigander experience and pay tribute to the history of the mitten state. Fox Theater Fox Theater Entrance at Night You would think I was a history buff with the older buildings and businesses I become drawn to in the Lower Peninsula, and it’s no secret the Fox Theater is one of my favorites. Built in the 1920’s, the Fox Theater has a pretty rough history. It began as an elaborate theater for everything from concerts, to live plays, to even “talkies” ( the first feature films to include sound). I n the 1960’s and 70’s the condition on the theat er started to decline and it crumbled d uring the rough years of Detroit . T hen in the late 1980’s it was purchased by the Ilitch family and restored to the stunning spectacle we see today . ...
